A Sneaky Peak

Hi everyone and thank you for your messages. I'm going to start posting something on here each week from now on. I planned to do that before but got a bit swamped with work :-) . I'm looking forward to coming back to school very soon - I just need to sort a day out where I can do that.

I now have copies of the first two Dinosaur Heroes books - Terrifying T.rex, and Pterosaur Trouble, and I will be dropping them off at the post office today. They should arrive at school later this week.

Here's a very little sneak peak ...

The Tyrannosaurus rex threw back its head and let out a deafening roar. Then it charged towards the car the two boys were hiding behind. The ground shook beneath the creature’s huge, clawed feet and one of the boys let out a terrified scream.

Then…

The Last Week of School

Hello everyone - I hope that you are all having a great time at school. I cannot believe that the summer holidays are here already. I bet lots of mums and dads are saying the same thing too.

I just wanted to say how brilliant it has been coming in to school to see you all this year. I've really enjoyed sharing stories and answering your questions.

I hope you have a fantastic summer holiday an I hope to see lots of you next year. To those of you in Yr 6 - I hope you have a great time at secondary school. It's a whole new, big adventure and I'm sure you will love it.

If you get bored during the Summer Holiday, why not go to the library and join the Summer Reading Challenge. You can join online or at the library - it's free, and you get rewards for reading books... what could be better.

Exciting News about the Dinosaur Books

Good morning everyone - I hope that you are having a great time in school (and at home of course). This morning I am reading through Dinosaur Heroes book one - Terrifying T. rex before it gets sent to the printers to be made into a proper book. Even though I have checked the book several times, and other people have checked it too - little mistakes keep popping up. Sometimes spaces get added that shouldn't be there. Sometimes commas, full stops, and even whole words get deleted by accident.

I am very excited to be able to tell you that book one, has been dedicated to all of you at Ysgol Cefn Meiriadog. So when the book is published, if you open it up you will see....

I wasn't going to tell you about this until I next came in to school, but as the book is published on 26th September, I know that some of you won't be there.

Marvin Says Hi

Hi everyone, thank you all of your messages. I've just taken a break from writing Creatures of the Deep so that I could read them with Marvin - our new puppy.

Marvin's 4 months old and he's a miniature dachshund... he's very bouncy and lots of fun.

He wanted to know why I hadn't shown you a picture of him yet so here's a couple of photographs of him.

On Sunday we took him to Talacre and he had a great time running on the sand and splashing in the water so I'm sure that we'll be going there quite a lot.

When we got back home he had a bath and then curled up on the arm of the sofa for a nap. He loves napping.

Marvin was interested to hear all of your messages and he has decided that he would me to read Dog Man - The Scarlet Shedder, by Dav Pilkey to him because Ezra says that it's his favourite book.

Dinosaur Update

Hi everyone - I hope that you all enjoyed the Easter Holiday.

Did you read anything interesting?

I'm still busy working on my Dinosaur Heroes books - I've just finished writing book 2 - Pterosaur Trouble, and am about to start writing book 3 - Creatures from the Deep.

I know you've seen the rough covers for the books, but I thought you might like to have a look at the finished versions.
As you can see, Jurassic Giants is the cover that you all liked best out of the two that the wonderful illustrator, Alex Paterson did. I think that was a good choice... so well done and thank you for helping me decide which they should use.

Alex has started working on the inside of book 1 - and I can tell you that it is looking fantastic. I can't wait to show you what he's done next time I see you.

What do you think of the finished covers?

Do you have a favourite?

I think mine is Creatures of the Deep - or it could be Terrifying T. Rex

Arrgh!!! I can't make up my mind. I love them all.

P.S. I know that pterosaurs aren't actually dinosaurs - they're flying reptiles - and creatures that lived in the sea weren't dinosaurs either - but there are other dinosaurs in the books.

Happy World Book Day

Happy World Book Day everyone. I am sorry that I can't be in school with you all today but I hope you have a great time - and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday.

I've been really busy over the last couple of months and I have not been in touch as much as I would like.

I have just finished writing the first in my series of Dinosaur Heroes books - as you voted the Tyrannosaurus rex to be your favourite dinosaur,  that is what is featured in the first book Terrifying T. Rex. I will show you what the cover is going to look like when I see you. Bye for now...

Which Dinosaur Will It Be?

Thank you for letting me know which dinosaur is your favourite. This diary page shows you how many votes the different dinosaurs get. It will help me to remember them too.

There is still time to let me know your favourite - or which dinosaurs you think would be good in the books.

Here are the votes so far...

Tyranosaurus rex = 7

Spinosaurus = 1

Mosasaurus = 1 (not actually a dinosaur but they lived at the same time as dinosaurs so it's a great idea).

Pterodactyl = 1 (not actually a dinosaur either - but they too lived at the same time as dinosaurs so I am sure that they will be in the books.)
