Dinosaur Update

Hi everyone - I hope that you all enjoyed the Easter Holiday.

Did you read anything interesting?

I'm still busy working on my Dinosaur Heroes books - I've just finished writing book 2 - Pterosaur Trouble, and am about to start writing book 3 - Creatures from the Deep.

I know you've seen the rough covers for the books, but I thought you might like to have a look at the finished versions.
As you can see, Jurassic Giants is the cover that you all liked best out of the two that the wonderful illustrator, Alex Paterson did. I think that was a good choice... so well done and thank you for helping me decide which they should use.

Alex has started working on the inside of book 1 - and I can tell you that it is looking fantastic. I can't wait to show you what he's done next time I see you.

What do you think of the finished covers?

Do you have a favourite?

I think mine is Creatures of the Deep - or it could be Terrifying T. Rex

Arrgh!!! I can't make up my mind. I love them all.

P.S. I know that pterosaurs aren't actually dinosaurs - they're flying reptiles - and creatures that lived in the sea weren't dinosaurs either - but there are other dinosaurs in the books.

    1. Hi Bonnie, that sounds good. I love poetry collections and I had quite a few on my bookshelf at home when I was little. I still have some now that I'm not so little too.

    1. Hiya - it's good to hear that you've nearly finished Mr Stink. Sometimes it's sad when you get to the end of a book as you leave their little world. But the good thing is that you get to start another book and enter a whole new world filled with different characters and adventures.
The first two Dinosaur Heroes books are being published in September, and yes... I will definitely send a copy of each of them to school as soon as I get them :-)

    1. Alex, the illustrator is really good. I described what I thought would look good on the covers and he did a fantastic job of drawing them. The illustrations that he has done for the insides are really good too. It's always exciting to see a book coming together after you have written it.

    1. That's my favourite one too Ezra. I'm just half way through writing that book and it's lots of fun. I need to get on with it though as it is being published in December. Most books take longer than that to be published so this is very quick.

    1. Hi Oliver... great to hear from you. I think the Tyrannosaurus rex is the most popular dinosaur. Mo, one of the boys in the book, loves dinosaurs - but I think he starts to feel a little differently after being chased by them :-)

  14. The book I am reading now is Harry Potter and the philosiphers stone. My favourite book is Harry Potter and the prisoner of Askaban. Before I go I have a recomendation you should write a Harry Potter book but instead of Harry Potter it should be Remus Lupin. Remus lupin is a professor at Hogwarts and at full moon he is a ware wolf. HARPER YSGOL CEFN MERIADOG

    1. Hi Harper... I enjoyed reading the Harry Potter books too. It would be really interesting to have a book with Lupin as the main character. I don't think that J K Rowling would let me write about her characters though. I would have to create my own werewolf character and give them a different name. Lupin is a great name for a werewolf because is comes from the word 'lupus' which is the Latin word for wolf.
